Jim has over 50 years of operational, executive and private equity experience, including roles as Chairman, CEO, President and COO within multiple companies, and as an Operating Partner at HKW.
Jim began his career in 1970 as a plant floor foreman at Excel Industries (NYSE:EXC), a manufacturer of OEM automotive components, and served in a variety of executive roles, including Chairman and CEO, during his nearly 30-year involvement.
In 1983, Jim partnered with HKW to purchase Excel Industries, which became one of the most successful investments in HKW’s history. After selling Excel Industries in Q1 of 1999, Jim joined HKW as an Operating Partner and helped the firm enter the committed fund space.
After retiring from HKW in 2012, he continued as President and CEO of Visioneering, Inc., an HKW portfolio company that manufactures large aerospace tooling. He led the company to a successful exit in 2013 and remained President and CEO through a successful leadership transition in 2016.
Jim serves on several private equity-backed, social and philanthropic boards of directors.
